I'm trying to turn off "Find My IPhone" and use certain other features, but the iPhone keeps asking for my Apple ID password for an account that was recently deleted. I'd like to sign in with my current Apple ID, but I can't since the iPhone keeps asking me about the deleted Apple ID. How do I fix that?

Since the ID has been deleted, you won't be able to sign out of it. You will need to have Apple remove the ID.
If you are the original owner, take the device, the original purchase receipt with the serial number, and a photo ID to the nearest Apple Store.
