Mouse track not pairing with IMAC Pro bluetooth

I just unpacked my new imac pro and the mouse track is not pairing with the bluetooth on the computer. The bluetooth is connecting with all the other devices and the track is turned on. I tried plugging it in and it didnt work. Help?

Hello,

Are you having issues with Magic Mouse or Magic Trackpad? These peripherals can be paired with your iMac by plugging them in. You should then see a notification in the upper right corner to pair. You can manage paired devices in System Preferences -> Bluetooth.

Im having trouble with the trackpad. I already tried to plug it in, pair it through system preferences and tried to use the bluetooth icon in the upper right. I believe the device is defective unless there is something else I am missing. The computer can not connect to it despite several tries and restarts.
