Apple Support Multiple Opinions on Repair
I have now visited the Apple support teams 2 times in order to get multiple different opinions regarding how to repair my MBP 2018 and how much it would cost. At each one of these meetings, I have been told that there has been no visible water damage and only a need for a single part repair (in my case a broken Touchbar). Once my MBP was sent to support however, I received a quote of more than half the cost of the laptop for supposed water damage.
Ever since I have had this laptop it has been hooked up to a desktop monitor and stationary. There has been no issue up till now with the laptop until the Touchbar stopped functioning. I know that there is only a single repair needed and now I am getting quoted for upward of $1.5k to repair multiple different parts that do not need repair. In addition to this, the pictures that are included in the repair ticket are blurry, unclear in what they show and somehow proof of other damage that is not visible.
None of the water tags have been activated and there is no water residue, but for some reason I am getting different responses from all Apple employees for how to fix this. Even the support diagnostic test came back passing without any liquid damage! Does anyone have the same issue with Apple support? This is getting quite frustrating, especially as a customer of their products for over 10 years now.
