Connecting a USB mass storage device

I have a PNA device that connects to a computer via the USB by exposing its internal flash as a mass storage device.

Ever since the Mojave 10.14.4 upgrade the MacBook does not mount the mass storage drive, unless I follow these steps:

  1. Disconnect all USB devices and disable Bluetooth
  2. Reboot the computer
  3. Connect the PNA

if I disconnect and connect the device a second time, the drive is not mounted. If there are any USB devices present at boot or Bluetooth enabled the mass storage drive will not be mounted.

I've tried all possible guides on the internet about fixing the USB connection problems to no avail. The weird thing is that the PNA connects without problems on an older machine with macOS 10.11.5 with the same cable.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

I have exactly the same issue with the oudie 4 navigation device I use for paragliding

I contacted Navitor and they had Their team of Engineers spend a good many hours on the issue and traced it back to Apple and their script and they reported the issue to Apple and they were dismissed without and further discussion

have to say I am almost done with Apple there are other devices and programs that won’t work with them but work fine with Windows and Android
