Why can't a passenger in my car use my Iphone XS to make a call while I am driving?

Can’t use phone in the car when I am a passenger Since I got my iPhone 11 I have not been able to use it when I am a passenger. I do not have the setting activated to not disturb me whilst I am driving and I have my car Bluetooth activated to pick up calls in my own car. This is incredibly irritating when you are trying to use the phone for directions! Help please!

Probably because "Do not Disturb while driving" is enabled. It gets automatically enabled. You can turn that off in Settings --> Maps
