Mobile number for Mac Air?

Is there any advantage to having a mobile number assigned to my Mac Air similar to what I have to my iPad & iPhone?

The telephone number association on your Mac can be good for many reasons:


  1. To make outbound telephone calls using your iPhone.
  2. To make FaceTime Video or Audio Calls.
  3. To send or receive iMessages and Text Messages.
