I have photos and have created a book BUT the operating system is OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 and it will not let me buy it. States that I need to upgrade photo BUT there are no upgrades for this system. What do I do and what happens to my photos
You can no longer order books from Apple at all. The last orders for books had to be placed by September 30, 2018. If you upgrade to macOS 10.13 or macOS 10.14 you can use third-party project extensions to order books from third-party services.
Since your Mac is stuck on El Capitan you may want to save your existing book as a PDF file and send them to a service, that can print Apple Books from PDF files, see: Ordering Books and Calendars on a Mac that cannot be upgraded past El Capitan
