Setting up iMac mini

Only have one hdmi port and I need it to hook up the monitor that I bought for the mini. But I also plan on sending the image to a projector too for extended desktop work. With only one hdmi how should I go about doing that ? Which one should get the actual hdmi port and which one should get a usb-c port with an adapter? Best way ? Or should I use an adapter for the monitor ? Maybe switch it to vga or something ?

thanks

If both monitor and projector require HDMI. Then connect the monitor directly to the HDMI port and use a USB-c to HDMI adapter for the projector. see > USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter - Apple

If the monitor or projector have other connections (DVI or Mini DisplayPort) then you need a USB-c adapter to match.
