my stolen Iphone

unfortunately my Iphone X was stolen and I turned it into lost mood. after two weeks, I keep getting messages that my stolen Iphone X is now connected to iCloud, what does that mean?

Another question, if my Iphone is password protected and its on lost mood, is my Iphone safe? or I must choose the option "erase Iphone"?
