Apple does not have actual retail presence in Vietnam, which means all repair facilities there are 3rd party Authorized Service providers and not actually Apple. As such, you are subject to their requirements and service policy.

Apple themselves do not require an invoice, but the Service providers may or may not. Its entirely up to them.

If you do not have an invoice, then the repair will be based on the manufacturing date of the system which could be much older than when you purchased it if the system was sitting on a shelf a while before being sold. Without a copy of the invoice, the AASP will rely on the information provided by Apple's service portal to determine the purchase/manufacture date and whether a system qualifies for the free repair program based on the information Apple has on file for the system.

Does the vendor you purchased the Apple computer from have records which they can provide to you or Apple for proof of purchase?

My understanding is that nowhere in the world has Apple rejected service for grey market devices. However, they will want either a proper registration by the authorized reseller or the original receipt from the authorized reseller. And for certain products (iPhone or cellular iPads) they might only accept it for repair in the country where it was sold by Apple or an authorized reseller.

Theoretically authorized resellers or the customer will report the sale to Apple and they'll have an approximate warranty coverage period listed on their servers. But absent that, the original receipt or a good copy is the only proof of purchase date for warranty coverage. I've received a receipt from an Apple Store via email, and the Apple Store employee told me that it would be useful if I ever needed warranty coverage.

I've gotten warranty replacement on a device where I didn't present the receipt. They looked up my coverage on the Apple website, and when the approximate warranty end date was well into the future (maybe 7 months) they said that was close enough. The closer it gets to the estimated end of coverage, the more likely they'll insist on seeing a receipt.

The warranty states that you will need your receipt for warranty issues. Here is the one from your country (which I cannot read)

https://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/products/embedded-mac-warranty-rest-of-apac-vietnamese.html

and here is the one from the us

https://www.apple.com/legal/warranty

Additionally, the Applecare + documentation includes that you must present your purchase receipt

Hi Night3r

Is the policy affected to both Apple Vietnam devices and grey market devices? As I know, Vietnam is a huge grey market for Apple products.

if you contact to Singapore Apple store, please explain more details, not in common situation.

Apple rejects to provide service to grey market devices not only in Vietnam but also in other country such as Singapore.

if Apple request customer to provide proof of purchase of Apple Vietnam devices, you can complain and raise it to Apple Asia Pacific in Singapore.

Good luck!

You are responsible for keeping your receipt.

And here are excerpts from the warranty:

Apple reserves the right to change the method by which Apple may provide warranty service to you, and your Apple Product’s eligibility to receive a particular method of service. Service will be limited to the options available in the country where service is requested. Service options, parts availability and response times may vary according to country. You may be responsible for shipping and handling charges if the Apple Product cannot be serviced in the country it is in. If you seek service in a country that is not the country of purchase, you will comply with all applicable import and export laws and regulations and be responsible for all custom duties, V.A.T. and other associated taxes and charges. For international service, Apple may repair or replace Apple Products and parts with comparable Apple Products and parts that comply with local standards.

And this is from the AppleCare terms:

To receive service or support under the Plan, you agree to comply with the following:

(i) Provide your Plan Agreement Number and a copy of your Plan’s original proof of purchase, if requested;

And:

The terms of the Plan, including the original sales receipt of the Plan and the Plan Confirmation, prevail over any conflicting, additional, or other terms of any purchase order or other document, and constitute your and Apple’s entire understanding with respect to the Plan.

Before, the repair will based on the active date of Macbook but since 31/7/2019 3rd AASP Apple at VietNam officialy does not provide warranty if there is no invoice :) So I create this thread to hope to explain from Apple. 3rd AASP say this is a notice of Apple but when I chat to officially Apple Support in Singapore, they say my product include: Iphone, Macbook, Apple watch is provided warranty and there is no need invoice.

Then contact Apple corporate to lodge your complaint about this behavior in your region. I don't believe Apple tech support can assist in regional issues like this one. In addition to contacting Apple corporate, you can also try submitting feedback here.

If you will check into the terms of the warranty which I linked to, you will note that Apple can require proof of purchase in any country, so there is no reason to complain about that.

Before, there is no need invoice. I hope to have apple store in Viet Nam. I think 90% customers lost invoice. 3rd party Authorized Service providers is really bad. We buy Apple Care and we must bring macbook to Singapore in order to use Apple Care. Oh no :)

Obviously they need to deal with Apple and want to get paid for doing warranty work. I have brought in devices to an Apple Store, and they're far easier to deal with than authorized repair. Good luck.
