Screen started flickering gray area!

If you have iPad Pro 11 as your signature suggests reboot it:
Press and quickly release volume up button
Then press and quickly release volume down button
Then press and keep holding the power button (keep holding past the swipe to shut down) till you see the Apple Logo, then let go.
If when your iPad comes back up, it's still doing what it was, schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar for evaluation.
