Movies Anywhere wants Access to my iCloud Account

Movies Anywhere and iTunes Cross-Connection

I just purchased a movie from a local retailer. It comes with a Code for Download.

Movies Anywhere wants access to my iCloud account. Seems connecting the two will allow accessibility of this purchase from both archives. I just want accessibility to to purchase from iTunes.

Is enabling this account/account cross-connection safe to perform? -- Is it required in order for everything to be playable?

An Update: I have just begun to use it. I am able to watch the movie without having to be connected to Movies Anywhere, so that is a relief. It has been downloaded and is viewable.
