Trying to Purchase Apple Music with Existing Account

I had apple music with my family, but I decided to leave because they had parental control over what I purchased. I am 19 years old btw. So I left and tried to purchase the apple music student plan, but it is not letting me because it says my apple music account "already exists" when i try to verify that I am a student. What do I do?
