I have a problem where there is one phone number that I cannot call, without it going to voice mail. I can "message" that same number. My number is not blocked on that phone. The solution offered by many who seem to thing they know the solution, is to wipe my phone, and restore it from scratch.

This is the 2nd thread I've seen on this issue in the past week. The other was Sprint/iPhone 8 also. In the other thread it was solved with a reset to factory settings. Restoring a backup brought the problem back.

This will erase the phone, install a new copy of iOS, and prompt you to restore your backup. After the backup restores, leave it connected and it will download your apps from the App Store and music from your computer or the iTunes store, wherever it resides.

This would be perfectly normal behavior if the telephone you are calling is turned "Off".
Based on the additional information, I'd agree that the problem is Sprint. However, you're going to have to be very persistent to get to someone who can really help you.

Hi.. thanks for the reply... I hear one or two rings. then voice mail... I have both phones in front of me.. neither has blocked the other. The other phone can call me. (the other phone in not off :-) network settings have been refreshed (reset)... Apple thinks it's the network (Sprint) I have to call their high tech people... sigh! It's not the phones...
Might you be sharing an Apple ID with your wife? If so, stop doing that immediately.

Does it go to voice mail immediately? Or do you hear any rings at all? If you hear rings, the phone is on and the person is not answering. If you hear no rings, the phone is off.
PS: this has been going on for weeks... the first few times it seemed to be intermittent .. once the other phone answered.
If you haven't guessed... it's my wife's phone... so it's a number I call a lot... :-)
