iPhone activation

I'm trying to activate my new Iphone xr but I am just getting the message 'waiting for activation'. Never activates. I cannot get or receive phone calls, but the wifi works.

Hi cropter,

You can try connect your iPhone XR to a computer and activate with iTunes. See this article for how to set it up: If you can't activate your iPhone - Apple Support

"waiting for activation". (iMessage and FaceTime through Phone Number will not work), If you get an error when trying to activate iMessage or FaceTime ...

Both are mutually exclusive problems.
