Devices and Apple ID

Use the article below as a guide of where to sign out of the device. Then sign in with the new ID.

If you create/use a new Apple ID, you will lose access to some of your data and the purchases made with your existing Apple ID. 

It's the opposite actually.

You move the Apple ID to a new device. Sign out of the old device and then in to the new device.
