Does the iPad pencil work with the iPad mini, if so which one?

The 1st gen Apple Pencil ( the one with the metal/chrome band ) works with the brand new, 2019 iPad Mini ( 5th generation ).

That is the only iPad Mini model that works with the Apple Pencil.
