iPad ver 6 WiFi cameras quit working after digitizer and home button replacement

I replaced digitizer and home button after my puppy I rescued damaged my iPad I purchased new on Amazon last December. I had to change out digitizer and home button as ribbon cable was damaged in accident. Now everything was just fine other than losing touch id after repair. Then I updated to iOS 12.4 And my rear camera just quit followed by front camera a couple days later. I have tried everything short of total reset. Both cameras are black with camera app working. I find it odd as this all happened after updating. I lost two iPhone 4’s back n the day to iOS updates. Very frustrated as Apple repair was cost prohibitive. Help anyone??

It is my understanding that any repair/replacement inside an iPad or iPhone is "microscope" work, in part or in total

I suggest that you seek professional "independent repair" help - locally or mail in

Search Google with " ipad rehab florida "

(I know the top result through reputation & digital communications - they may be able to refer you to someone near you)

That's unfortunate, but there's absolutely nothing anyone can do to help you.

If you self-serviced your iPad, you clearly messed something up. Apple will not even take the iPad in trade or offer any support to it. Apple does not repair iPad's. They offer out of warranty replacements for reasons just like this.

You might want to take it to one of those iFixit type places every town has, but if they can't fix it, you don't really have many options. The reality is saving money by doing an iPad repair on your own, may have cost you significantly more than you bargained for.

Clearly I wasn’t looking to have a ifixit suggestion. This reply was obviously written with no help intended. My option is drop it in the recycle bin and buy a new one. This is $249 delivered brand new tomorrow and certainly not worth the time it took to respond to the obvious. The assumption that everything that comes directly from Apple is always the only was to go is really narrow minded.

I'm sorry you don't like my answer, but what did you honestly expect anyone here to offer? You had a choice to let Apple or an Apple Authorized Provider take care of your iPad. You chose to become an at home Apple engineer and disassemble your iPad, and replace parts. It didn't work out too well for you. In doing so, you voided your warranty with Apple. That was your choice. It was an unfortunate choice. All you can do is hope to find an aftermarket service provider who you can pay to fix what you broke.

There's nothing more anyone here can offer you. We're not engineers. We don't fix iPad's. We don't work for Apple. You're kind of on your own here.

Thanks for the insight. It really would have been a pretty straightforward repair if dog teeth weren’t involved. I will likely just replace it and call it a day. I am responding on the very iPad in question. I will give it to someone who doesn’t care about or want camera functionality and buy a new one. Not worth devoting any more time as was looking for someone to give input that has actually had hands on experience. Thanks anyway.
