Apple ID

When I try to log into Facebook or REALTOR.ca or other apps, my Apple ID is a gmail and I no longer use this. Of course any new password I create does not match because my real ID does not appear. I have tried resetting my password many times and am running out of choices that I can remember. How do I get rid of that old Apple ID? I am not very savvy about this stuff so please be kind! This happened as soon as I updated on with my Mac.

You don't need to use your Apple ID to log into Facebook or any web sites except for Apple web sites. It would probably be safer not to use your Apple ID on Facebook. If your log in there is compromised, then your Apple ID is compromised.

Treat your Facebook log in as a separate log in. To reset your password on Facebook, click on where the arrow points in the screen shot below, then choose Settings. Next choose Security and Log in. Change the password there. The change will not affect your Apple ID password since the login address isn't your Apple ID.

Other web sites where you are using the address should have a place where you can reset the password if necessary. Using the same password on more than one web site isn't considered a good thing to do.
