zip file .cr2 images

is it possible that .cr2 images downloaded in a zip file were converted on my iMac to .dng files? there is no way for me to find out of those files were changed to .dng on the other end, but they shouldn't have been. that zip file should still contain .cr2 files. sorry if this is not applicable to this forum and is instead a photography software issue, but i am asking in all possible places to try and find out how this happened. thanks.

I seriously doubt Mac OS changes the file type. When a zip file is recieved in by your Mac if the sender sent a .cr2 file then that is what is received. However that being said there are preferences for how Mac OS handles zip files, they are there but not easy to get to. I was able to find an article that show how to get to the Preferences. Once you get into the Preferences please look thoroughly to see if there is a setting you may need to change.
