Problems setting up Apple Watch

I am trying to set up my Apple Watch but it is not recognizing my Apple ID. I am able to sign into the support page using my normal Apple ID and password; however, when I try to do the same thing on the Apple Watch app, a notification keeps popping up saying the ID or password is wrong. I’ve tried changing both multiple times but the same thing keeps happening. Please help
