When transferring apps from old 6s to new 7, half of my apps won’t finish downloading because they are somehow attached to my son’s Apple ID, requiring his PW. How do I fix this issue? We do not use family share and none of my apps should be associated with his ID
The only way to solve the issue is to delete the apps and download them again with your Apple ID.

If you are signed into your iTunes/App Store account using your Apple ID, the apps that you download will be yours, not his. Your Apple ID will be encoded into the DNA of the licensed copies that you download.
At some point in the past your son may have noticed that there were updates. He must have used his Apple ID to update the apps. Just make sure that he isn't that helpful in the future! :-)
Will it not just try to re-download using his ID again, since it’s going to save data etc
to the cloud and just attempt to re-download?
