2nd gen apple pencil will no longer connect to ipad pro.

my 2nd gen pencil worked fine last night. it will not connect this morning. when i attach it to the ipad i get the text at the top of the screen that says apple pencil, but no charged info. bluetooth cannot find it. i have tried all of the apple support tips to no avail. how do i get reconnected?
