I am an architecture student, going into my second year and was thinking of buying a macbook. The problem, I do not now which model nor specific specs that it should have. I am not willing to give almost 3000 dollars for the newest macbook pro, which other model will be suitable?
The first thing you should do is consult other people in your department. Find out what they use and what they recommend. Find out what, if any, specific programs you'll need to have on your computer.

If you can, take yourself to your local Apple Store and talk with the folks their and try out the machines.
