Update Payment Information always showing red 1 and needing action

My iCloud is part of a Family Sharing group. The Family Sharing groups owner credit card was fraudulently used so my iCloud storage failed billing. He updated his iCloud billing to a new card and the iCloud storage billed fine later that day.


The thing is that my phone in the Settings area constantly shows as needing "Update Payment Information" action on my part. I click through and it shows me the Payment method that is shared, which I cannot edit or remove which is normal.


The problem is that everything looks fine, and is working fine, but the "Update Payment Information" notice never goes away and it has that annoying little red number 1 saying action is needed on my part.


This has been like this for a week now, and I have restarted the phone multiple times as well as tried to set the payment information on the website as well and nothing seems to work.

Payment informations is needed when

  1. The card has been made invalid
  2. The card Billing address does not match with that of your Apple ID
  3. If you have changed your Country / Region


Change your payment method on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Before you change your payment information, make sure that you have the latest version of iOS.

  1. Go to Settings > [your name] > iTunes & App Store.*
  2. Tap your Apple ID, then tap View Apple ID. You might be asked to sign in.
  3. Tap Manage Payments. (If you're using an older version of iOS, tap Payment Information.) Then add, update, reorder, or remove your payment methods:

Well, I guess there is more than one way to get things done.


Thought about it for a second and decided to just remove me from the Family Sharing group. This let me go through the steps you suggested.... then I re-added back into the Family Sharing group. Everything is cleared up now.


I shouldn't have to go through those extra steps to clear this, but it took less time than it was worth to worry about it or get irritated by it.
