DISK_IMG ejects, but re-appears

I have a disk_image on my desktop. I "eject" the image (I've both dragged it to the Trash as well as selected "Eject Disk" in the Finder). It appears to remove fine.

But... upon restart, the disk_image re-appears. The image itself is empty; there are no contents inside when I open it.

Needles to say, I simply want to "Eject" it for good.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sparseimage on external no longer mountable Someone closed my laptop lid and messed up my virtual disk! I have a .sparseimage file that I created in order to store my photos library on an external SSD. There was a notification on the top-right when I opened the laptop and logged in, warning me about the danger of removing a disk without ejecting... Now when I double click the SparseImage, I get the error: "The disk image couldn't be opened" "There are no mountable file systems in the disk image" Sucks that something as simple as closing the lid can mess up a whole disk, there was no file activity it was just sitting open when the laptop was closed. The SSD with the .sparseimage file was still connected the whole time, just the laptop went in and out of sleep. Please someone tell me there's a way to repair the disk image?

Have you tried looking where it comes from in the disk utility or the terminal?

No I haven't –how do I do that and what am I looking for once I'm there
