I can't connect my AirPods

Every time I try to connect my AirPods it says to hold down the button on the back of the case. I hold it down for like 2 minutes and nothing changes on the screen and they cannot connect.

When I try to connect and hold the button on the back of my airpods its not connecting I disconnected my airpods because they weren’t connecting to my phone so i reset them and when It says to hold the button in the back of the charging case it wont connect.
