Permission denied when trying to reinstall iMac with OSX

My Imac is not giving me any options. Please help me. It can't start up right and I would like to reinstall Sierra. But when I do, it comes up with an error: "Action could not be performed. Permission denied". What to do?

installing mac os sierra fails with error "Permission Denied" and only one volume Hello, I have a MacBook Air early 2014. I'm trying to install it and it doesn't work. It might help if I mention it only has one volume called "OS X Base System" See how it only has one drive/volume/whatever you call it please help!

Plus you need to install the most current version of macOS "High Sierra or Mojave" your iMac model supports.
