Why is my iPad asking for me to add my apple password in settings ?
I personally would likely just do what my iPad instructed and go to Settings and add my Apple ID password.
If you are concerned, about doing that however, use the Contact Support button at the top of this page, or call them at: 1-800-MY-APPLE to put your mind at ease.

What are you doing when it asks for it?
It can be displayed at anytime on the internet or even before signing on to my ipad
Are you asking about your 4 or 6 digit passcode you use to open the iPad when you turn it on or the Apple ID Password? They are totally different.
My Apple ID Password. It gives the option then of going to settings to add it, or, not now. I have been selecting, not now.
