I assume you already have an Apple ID? Open iTunes, go to the Account menu, choose Sign In..., and log in with the email and password of your Apple ID.
If it does not work, pls post back with specifics of the problem.
I've been doing same thing "Accessing iTunes Store" is the only thing I'm getting. I can not even authorise the computer.

Thank you so much. I was able to access and signed in to iTunes using the "safe mode"
