My iPhone audio during calls only works if my AirPods are used

I can't use the Speaker or regular audio when the phone rings. I can ONLY answer phone calls with my Airpods plugged in. I won't even let me choose which audio I prefer during phone calls. Even if I don't have my Airpods near me, it only let me make calls or receive calls using the Airpods

Hello,

Start here: If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker

If no help try this:

1) Open the Control Center

2) 3D press (or long press) on the music controls

3) Select the output option (little up-arrow with circles)

4) Select iPhone

If still not working, have your phone checked: Find Locations

Good luck.
