Credit Balance

I have "credit" in my account from gift cards... I do not want to buy music, aps, and you can't use it to buy devices or anything, is there a way to "gift" this credit to someone else? That money has sat there for years, I do not have the original gift cards... what a waste! Rip off! I had bought so much music from Apple and poof... disappeared...into some cloud... Yes, I'm old, 66 so this is all confusing to me... :) Help! Please!
