Podcast Feed Error

I've been producing my podcast for two years. Last month the feed experienced an error. GoDaddy stated if I moved to business hosting, it would fix the error because I have a lot of media on my site. Needless to say, I switched and the error is not fixed. I've been trying to fix this for almost two months with no luck. I've deactivated and reactivated my plugins one by one. The only conflict I could find was with a SSL Redirect Plugin. With the plugin activated, the feed timed out. With it deactivated, the feed can not parse. Help!

Anybody have a clue as to how I fix the "can't parse your feed" error. Here is the feed: http://thatanitalive.com/feed/podcast

Firstly your feed is taking about 30 seconds to load, causing validators and probably the Store to time out.

Then the feed does not end properly: at the very bottom of the feed the last thing is the 'enclosure' tag for 'EHP046 How to Identify the Man Monster'. Without closing the 'item', 'channel' and 'rss' tags the entire feed is rendered invalid.

And your categories don't fall into the acceptable ones - you have to stick to the categories listed here:

The very long delay before the feed loads is something you'll have to take up with Godaddy (their servers aren't normally slow).

You've created the feed in Wordpress and Blubrry Powerpress and you should look at your process and see whether you can detect what's happened to the end of the feed, and if necessary approach Blubrry Support.

First, allow me to say thank you for helping me with this. Everytime I put the feed url into Chrome it ends with a different episode and error at the bottom. Goddaddy says the server is fine and they can not help me with the podcast because its third party. Burbrry says its a Godaddy issue. This is so frustrating. Do you know a tech that can help me with this personally?

The feed has a 30 seconds delay before it starts to load, after which it loads quickly: but the delay will probably cause the Store to time out. I don't see how this can be anything other than a server problem.

It's still incomplete, ending the same way as it did when I checked it before. I have had, a long time ago and not with GoDaddy, a situation where uploading images to a server sometimes resulted in an incomplete image - the upload terminating before the file was fully uploaded - and this may be what is happening here. I've no idea what is causing this, but it may be either a server problem or some sort of misconfiguration between whatever you are using to do the uploading and the server. I'm afraid I can't offer any more comment than that - I'm not a server expert - and I'm afraid I can't recommend someone to you to sort this out. I can only suggest leaning on GoDaddy (whose Support I've found helpful when there has been a problem). If you are uploading automatically from Wordpress (and I'm not familiar with that program) you could try saving the feed locally and uploading it using a separate FTP client. CyberDuck should be OK with this, and it's free. At least that will get the feed up complete (check the local copy first). If you can't sort out the server delay I should look for a different host.

Libsyn files are fine with power press - the issue typically is that Wordpress / PowerPress feeds can easily break if you have a 3rd party plug in that causes issues. It is never recommended to manage your RSS feed on Wordpress. If you are hosting with libsyn - you are much much better off using the libsyn feed it is much more reliable then any wordpress managed feed.

This is what all of the big shows do - like Joe Rogan, Marc Maron, Bill Burr, Mike Rowe - all are using their libsyn feed.

If you want info on how to upgrade your feed to the libsyn feed - email me Rob at libsyn dot com

Your top episode begins with some music: Apple may be concerned that this is copyright music from a CD etc which you have simply lifted and are using without clearance. If this is 'podcast free' music or you composed and played it yourself you should say so in the 'itunes:summary' tag for the overall podcast.

Apart from that, the 'itunes:summary' tags in your episodes contain html code for buttons, separated by a string of 'br' tags. This won't be rendered in iTunes and will either appear as unrendered code or simply as nothing since it can't show buttons. You should repace all this with some plain text (and no links: iTunes can't handle those either). No reason why you shouldn't include URLs, as far as I know, but as I say not links.
