Wireless keyboard

I just changed the batteries in my wireless keyboard...the green light is flashing but I cannot get it to connect to my Mac to sign in?!?

iMac Line (2012 and Later)

First, it is wise to always have a wired keyboard and mouse available to troubleshoot wireless keyboard and mouse issues. Any inexpensive USB keyboard and mouse would work. However for now, please use the information in the following link:

Did you read the troubleshooting steps in my original post? You may need to begin by using a USB Keyboard to unpair and then re-pair your wireless keyboard. If you do not have one then please either borrow one or buy one.

Thanks BUT the Mac was off when I replaced the batteries. Now when I turn it back on, I cannot enter my password to sign in and start my Mac because the keyboard will not connect though the green light flashes...
