I spilled a small amount of sweet tea on my macbook
Earlier today, I knocked over my glass of tea. It was almost empty, and a small glass to begin with, maybe a few teaspoons of liquid total. It spilled onto a fourth or third of my keyboard. My first reaction was to pick up my computer, grab a towel and dab off the tea. I then immediately turned it off, to better clean it, and I unplugged my headphones. I checked the ports on that side, and wiped them down too. Then once the keyboard was mostly dry, I took it to another room, and wiped off the keyboard with an antibacterial wipe carefully, so that it wouldn't be sticky.
Afterwards I used toilet paper to dry off the keyboard again, and clean off the rest of my computer while I was at it.
I turned my computer on 5-10 minutes after the initial spill, and it's been working fine the rest of the night.
However I've been doing a lot of googling, and the consensus is that you should leave it off for 48 hours, as well as turn it upside down on top of a towel.
I'm a college student, and I'm taking summer courses, so I need my computer almost daily, and don't have access to another one. I also don't have a safe place to put my laptop upside down, as I have two cats who are likely to knock it down and do even more harm. Is there anything else I can do to prevent corrosion, or further damage? How likely is it that there's liquid creeping into the logic board?
My computer didn't even try and shut off on its own during the initial spill, and the video I had been watching continued to play normally. Once I turned it back on I noticed no differences, and haven't since. Though I've seen that things can seem fine, then turn bad after a few days.
Thank you, and here's the information for my laptop.
