How can I make live photo from exported heic and mov files?

Hi.

I transferred(exported) some photo files into PC(Windows 10), from iPad.

This contains HEIC and MOV files.

And now, I want to put it back in my iPad as live photo.

But through iCloud or third party app(Syncios), I can't make it into live photo.

How can i combine these into live photo?

Thank you.

I cannot test with a Windows PC.

On a Mac I can put the Live Photos back with iCloud Photos but not with iTunes.

  • When I import the original HEIC and MOV at the same time together into my Photo Library on the Mac they are combined back into the Live Photo. But it have to be the originals, not edited or downsized versions. And there must not be traces of the originals still in iCloud. iCloud Photos can sync the Live Photo back to the iPad, if iCloud Photos is enabled an the iPad as well.
  • Alternately, you could use an application that will create a Live Photo from the video component on the iPhone or iPad. I am using "Into Live Pro". It can create a new Live Photo from the video component.

The .aae files are sidecar files. It will depend on the version of the system on your iPhon or iPad, what they are encoding. These sidecar files can contain adjustments you applied to the photos or the effects, if you applied a filter to he photo in the camera. You do not import the .AAE sidecar files separately. You just keep them in the same folder as the corresponding images, and if an applications understands them, it will apply the adjustments described there, if such a sidecar file is present. The Photos.app on a Mac can read these files, when I import saved photos together with these files.
