I've tried using the Apple Card via Apple Pay at two different POS merchants and both times have been asked to input a PIN. There is no PIN associated with the card. Has this happened to anyone else?

Ask them if they have an option to force the transaction to be paid with a credit card.
The card decides on the "cardholder verification method" (CVM) to use. This can be PIN, signature and others.
Many banks hand out debit cards that prefer PINs and credit cards that prefer signatures. But Apple and Goldman Sachs can put any CVM on it that they like. Including just accepting any payment without PIN and without signature.

You are welcome. Open Wallet>tap on the card>tap on the three dots in the top right corner and then tap on the message icon and you can ask them too.
Surprised about the request for a PIN number as that is generally only requested for a Debit card, not a credit card, which the Apple Card is. I just signed up and used my at ShopRite (supermarket) and neither of the two machines (one for checkout and one for Starbucks in ShopRite) asked for a pin. Transaction just went through.
I was on the phone with support today and spoke to 7 or 8 different people. The Goldman Sachs Apple Card "specialist" was anything but; just read from a script and said "I can't see any declined transactions on your account."

I have found the Goldman personnel to be useless.
Tried 0000 today and it still gave an error, but a different one; something about "invalid merchant" IIRC. I still find it odd, b/c I've used Apple Pay at this store before using a different card.
I have never heard of a PIN for a CC.
