Apple will not, for any reason, give you someone else's private information. Turning the iPhone into the police is all you can do. They will take care of returning it to the owner, if possible.
Sorry, Apple has very strict privacy rules.
Hand it over to the police, you and your grandson will never be able to use it.
Or bring it to an Apple Store for recycling in a environment friendly way.
