data only iPad tmobile ID verification code? How does one receive it?
Hi all,
I have an iPad cellular with an apple SIM and would like to activate a Tmobile account. During the registration process it asks me for a verification code. The only option I have for it, is to have it sent as a text and that is tied to the account number ("phone number" of the iPad). Clearly the iPad does not offer texting. I tried putting the apple sim in a blackberry (no iPhone readily available) and it will not work for that purpose (Not sure what the exact error message). I've talked to tmobile support, which surprise!!! Was pointless :( ! Anyone have a solution? I'm irritated and surprised that Apple and Tmobile did not think of this problem since they do offer data only plans. I can't be the first to have this problem since I'm sure this issue comes up with other providers and data only devices.
Any solutions/ideas? Also two follow up questions. IF I did have access to an iPhone would I be able to swap in my apple iPad sim there, trigger the text and it would work on the iPhone? Furthermore I vaguely remembering that if one uses AT&T once the Apple sim becomes locked to AT&T. Is that correct? I've avoided using AT&T for that reason. Would Apple give me a different SIM for free if I got locked into AT&T? I enjoy being able to switch carriers on a whim especially when traveling.
Thanks,
Philly
