Back up your data, check your applications for compatibility, and download High Sierra from the Mac App Store.

I have been trying to update my iMac 21.5 late 2013 - I currently have OSX 10.9.5. I have 811.74 GB of memory free and tried to update to OS Catalina 10.15.7 from the App store, I started the install process but it has never moved on from install I have been trying to update my iMac 21.5 late 2013 - I currently have OSX 10.9.5. I have 811.74 GB of memory free and tried to update to OS Catalina 10.15.7 from the App store, I started the install process, agreed to the terms but I can't see that it has actually installed! When I go back to the app it says installed - but where can I check this. On 'About My Mac' it still shows OS X 10.9.5 as the operating system.

The maximum your 2011 will go is High Sierra, 10.13.6 which is available for free on the Mac App Store.
