I have a lot of purchased music that is on my IPhone 6S that has the same Apple Id account as my mac but the songs don't show up in the library only previously purchased songs from over a year ago.

I understand that you have music on your iPhone that isn't showing up on your Mac. You don't mention Apple Music, so assuming that you do not have an Apple Music subscription, you can redownload your purchased content. See this support article:
