How do I erase text added to a jpeg image in Preview

iMac Line (2012 and Later)

Once you have ended that Preview session, the text is embedded and cannot be edited. I annotate a lot of images in Preview but I make a copy of the original image first and only annotate the copy.

An alternative is saving the image as a PDF first then you can annotate and make any changes you like.
