No Anti-Virus software or so-called “cleaning” apps are needed or recommended for Mac OS. They can conflict with Mac's own built-in security. At best they will slow your Mac by using unnecessary resources and at worst will bork your entire system. Your Mac has all the built-in protection you need.
Also as Terence asks, why do you think you need to clean it and what are you trying to accomplish?
Macs don't need cleaning.
The only valid reason to "clean" a Mac is if your startup disk runs out space. Then you proceed like you would cleaning your attic, garage, fridge or closet. Take an inventory of your files and figure out their value. Throw away what is not useful, what is redundant or not active.
May I ask WHY you think your Mac needs cleaning apart from lack space?
If your Mac is really dirty, I suggest a slightly damp piece of soft cloth.
The only reason I suspect a problem with it is the download speed at times is very slow. I have compared it to my iPad during the slow periods thinking it was the modem or the service provider, (spectrum) on every occasion the ipad was over 200 and the mas was at 15 to 20. Would stop in the middle of a video and wait to upload. I have also found that when I restart the Mac it is back to normal. Just thinking about it now if it is a problem with the mac it should be constant???
Soft towel. Microfiber is best.
