Apple Watch 4 Constantly Unresponsive

I haven't seen this exact issue yet online. My watch is 1 month old. It is unresponsive to turn it off or close apps without doing a force shutdown, or taking it off and putting it back on, which requires me to enter my security code. Only then will the screen respond to the touch to shut off or close apps. Does anyone else constantly deal with this??

Thank you Julieda. I now believe it’s the Zagg impact shield that I put on the watch. The shield just cracked so I’ve been wearing the watch without that protective covering. Apparently it severely affects the touch sensitivity of the screen. I wish Apple would develop a protective shield that both protects the screen and is touch sensitive.
