You may have adware/malware installed. Try downloading this program which was written by Thomas R, a long time poster. The program will search for malware/adware. The program will do the work for you which makes it easy. It may be necessary to run more than one scan. After running the scans, restart the computer.
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for Mac 10.10 and later
To reinstall, you need to reinstall the OS, which may not help if you have malware installed. Do a backup, preferable 2 separate ones on 2 drives. Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart). Run Disk Utility and select First Aid. Then re-install the OS.

More information would help. Safari won't let you move what to the Trash? What is infected? You can't delete Safari because it is part of the OS. If you would describe the problems you are having, someone may be able to help.
my safari browser got hacked/infected . and every time i try to open it terminal comes on. I quit safari. and checked all application and deleted the one malware . macOS 2011, high sierra 10.13..6 . thought i could re-install it.
Eric, assume I would have to do the Malware installation with Safari opened and set as the default browser? which is one of the problems. or could i use a different browser and download it from it to get rid of it on OS.
Or just reinstall OS first? thanks
You are welcome. I would try Malwarebytes before trying a reinstall. You can download Malwarebytes using whichever browser you want, install it, and run it several times. It shouldn't matter what programs are open.
thank you will try. tomorrow .
You are welcome.
