Does Apple's lightening to SD card reader work with Sony Memory Stick Pro?

I have a higher end Sony A model mirrorless camera which requires Memory Stick Pro, smaller than a standard SD card but in broad use for photographers.

To transfer pics from memory card to iPad, sales person said this device would work, but in real use, clearly the card is smaller than the reader's opening.

Does lightening to SD card reader work with Sony Memory Stick Pro? Is there an adaptor, Sony or third party I need to hunt down?

Finding nothing at all via google search.

Thanks! Time is of the essence as I am to board a flight to Bosnia in one week, if this won't work, I'll have to leave this pro camera behind. Help! (Aug. 21, 2019)

Your camera doesn't come with a USB charging cable that you can plug into the adapters I listed?

The Apple adapter you own is for SD cards and simply will not work with the thinner Sony Memory stick style cards.

I use two older Sony cameras with Sony Memory Stick Pro cards and to get around this, I leave the memory sticks in the camera and plug my cameras, using the the Sony charge cable that came with my cameras and plug these into the Apple Lightning to USB adapters and use the Sony camera's USB mass storage mode to transfer my camera images.

What is the problem with doing that?

Just purchase one of the USB style adapters to use with that camera and bring thr camera's USB cable along.

What iPad model do you own?

If your camera has a USB transfer/msss storage mode, you leave the memory stick in the camera, can put the camera into USB transfer mode and plug in the camera via the supplied camera cable plugged into the iPad using one of Apple's USB camera adapters.

Either these two adapters for new and old iPad Pro models.

Thx! My camera is a Sony A55, (older model, 2010), and I’m traveling with two iPads, a 10.5 inch iPad Pro and a few week old iPad mini five . Just picked up Apples lightning to SD card reader pre-trip which seems to work fine with my larger ScanDisk memory cards from other lesser cameras but not with the more slender ‘Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo’ used in my professional grade higher end camera. The memory stick pro “adapters” sold in my camera’s era are too thick for the new Apple card reader so not applicable. The Sony Memory Stick Pro will enter the lightning to SD Card Reader by Apple and seems to grab hold — but left to right is a little too small for the reader’s opening. The Memory Stick Pro will successfully enter the lightning to ST card reader by Apple and seems to ‘grab hold,’ but the left-to-right aspect is a little too narrow for the card’s wider reader opening.

It’s left me questioning if my Sony A55 has perhaps become obsolete and it’s time to update my camera (but for it being in an excellent, beloved camera in perfect condition, still perfectly functional, as well as with lenses — having been expensive!) So I’m seeking to find either a different memory card adapter than Apple’s perhaps with multi sized slots or some alternate method for transferring the images to my iPad Pro or Ipad Mini 5.

So much for your response!

No, I haven’t such a cable and have no memory of ever having had one with this Sony A55.

That said, I am currently on the first photo expedition that I’ve been on since 2016 — (rusty!) and you have me wondering if such an item should have come with my 2010 camera! Good question, something to follow up on! // Normally having a laptop with me in former trips abroad, recently I’ve given into stricter weight restrictions on flights so have no laptop with me now. Otherwise I would use my usual system of a standard multi card adapter plugged into a Macbook port but this is now the first trip I’m traveling only with my 2017 iPad Pro and my new 2019 iPad mini.

Thanks again! So grateful for the guidance.
