iMac takes forever to Time Machine Backup. Going to Apple to get MacBook transferred.

I kept the backup on overnight, but it only transferred 150 out of 400GB of data (after 10 hours), and it said 15 hours remaining. So, I gave up and now I could not delete the backup. I am going to Apple Store to help out with transferring my data. And if I used Migration Assistant via Wifi (I tried using USB C to USB A to connect iMac to MacBook), it would only do it via Wifi and it would not transfer any of my apps.

What models are the iMac and MacBook, and what version of macOS are they running? Are you trying to complete a Time Machine Backup on your old system so that you can use it to transfer your data to the new system? Migration assistant may be the fastest option as long as you set it up properly.

Depending on your setup and cable availability you may want to consider using Target Disk Mode for the old system to treat it like an external hard drive. Here's more info:
