Multiple Finder windows

I have 4 external networked discs used for backups and storing files accessible from several networked apple iMacs (all 2018/9 running Moave, up to date OS) when any of the iMacs starts up I have the drives mount via their address entered in 'users and groups' logins. Each time a machine completes its startup, a user logs in, and reaches the desktop, the finder opens a new window for each volume loaded. This means every folder window has to be closed, one by one. Although easy to close multiple windows, the whole point of mounting drives at startup, in the background, is not to confuse less 'technical savvy' users into contacting tech support for 'what to do?' Surely there must be a sensible, clean way to accomplish this minor irritation from occurring on Mac's running the arguably the best 21st century operating system available? It's 50 years ago that they landed on the moon with a computer that less memory and capability than my old Nokia 6220 phone! (a time long before the advent of iPhones and IOS). Please, someone help!

Give this a try, it worked for me.

Open 'Users and Groups' and click on the lock icon to authenticate making changes.

Click on 'Login Items' as you've been doing to select the volume to mount.

Click on the 'Hide' box as shown below.

Click on the unlocked 'Lock' icon to prevent further changes.

That method seems to have worked on my Mojave based iMac When I rebooted the system no windows opened. Hopefully it works for yours too.
