Apple watch indoor bike workout

Today I use the workout app on my Apple Watch 4 for the first time while using a recumbent bike at the gym.  I rode the bike for 32 minutes but it only recorded 27 active calories, 71 total calories and an average heart rate of 81 bpm.  The bike software recorded 367 calories used and an average heart rate of 135 bpm.   Not sure what Is wrong.  Can anyone help?

There is your answer. It was not reading your heart rate.

Make sure that your watch properly and that you it is reading your heart rate.
