Code not properly activated

I had purchased an iTunes gift card for 50 bucks 3 months ago. I didn’t use it immediately and yesterday when I was trying to redeem it an error popped up saying the code is invalid. Unfortunately I don’t have the receipt, and can’t get a refund from the place I originally bought it from.
